Meetings

We hold our troop meetings every other week where we work on a variety badges, journey awards, service projects, and fun patches. Our meetings are supplemented with events and other planned activities to keep us busy all school-year long. During our meetings we work on premeeting activities, which range from making SWAPS to small service projects as all members arrive. These activities are followed by an opening ceremony, business meeting, activities, snack, and closing ceremony. The focus here is to move into a girl-led setting.

Activities and Events

Our troop incorporates several activities and events to supplement our regular scheduled meetings. Some of these are done at the troop level, while other may include our service unit or council programs. We determine what we want to do based on scout input. Our scouts work in task teams to help make small group decisions which are the brought to the larger group for a final vote. This approach enables our girls to learn how to work in a small group setting as well as voicing their own opinions in a larger setting.

Service

Service is a very important part of Girl Scouting and we take this responsibility very seriously. We offer the girls the opportunity to earn fun patches for participating in the events we hold at the troop level and those at the council level. We will list the upcoming service projects once we start our meetings this August. We will also need registered adult volunteer participation in order to make this a success. Details and sign-up sheets will be available at our troop meetings.

Keep watching for our progress throughout this coming scouting year as we are going for the Gold Level President's Volunteer Service Award as well as our fourth consecutive GSNEO Year of Service Award! For more details about our service projects, click here to see our progress.

We recently received a letter of commendation from the Ohio House of Representatives for our service projects as sponsored by Ohio State Representative Sean O'Brien! We are very honored to receive this recognition!!! We have been featured on GSNEO's website for achieving the Silver Level President's Volunteer Service Award!!!

Since recycling is an ongoing activity, we will continue collecting pop tabs for our sponsor into each scouting year.
