Girl Scout Troop 344

Ambassadors

Congratulations to Rachel Ward, an Ambassador level scout member of Troop 344 who recently earned her Girl Scout Gold Award!  Rachel is a 13-year Girl Scout member and a recent graduate of McDonald High School.  She partnered with Heavenly Beginnings Preschool in McDonald, OH to design and implement her gold project.  For her project Rachel designed, planned and implemented an "Outdoor Classroom" for use at the preschool.  The "Outdoor Classroom" enables the preschoolers to learn while they play. They will work on developing their skills with the alphabet, numbers, addition, fine and gross motor skills and balance, as well as being creative, curious and investigative.

"I want to be able to help the preschoolers learn while they are being active outside. They need to be able to have fun while they are playing, and since the children are so young, they will not even realize that they are learning if they are having fun."

"We are very proud of Rachel for implementing such a wonderful concept at Heavenly Beginnings Preschool.  She definitely worked hard to complete her project and earn her Gold Award!"

Congratulations to Megan Ward, an Ambassador level scout member of Troop 344 who recently earned her Girl Scout Gold Award!  Megan is a 13-year Girl Scout member and a senior at McDonald High School.  She worked with Heavenly Beginnings Preschool in McDonald, OH to design and implement her gold project.  For her project Megan designed, planned and implemented an "Indoor Recess" program for use at the preschool.  The "Indoor Recess" program allows the preschoolers to have additional active play options while indoors. The children will be able to move and exercise as they learn and play, using fine and gross motor skills while they work on balance, agility and coordination.

"I have a strong interest in being physically fit and wanted to help the preschoolers learn to be active even when indoors. They will have fun while being active so it is a win, win situation."
